BrainBud functions as a comprehensive control hub, managing the keys and scales for multiple Bud applications simultaneously. It connects via MIDI out to the MIDI inputs of the following apps:

An additional feature allows users to broadcast the current key and scale to newly connected apps via the Budcast button, facilitating synchronized setup. For experimentation purposes, the randomise button offers on-the-fly variation of parameters.

The availability of the AUv3 version enhances functionality by enabling parameter adjustments and automation within compatible host apps such as AUM, Cubasis, Nanostudio, or apeMatrix. Users should ensure their host app supports AUv3 for optimal utilization.

It is important to note that BrainBud is a MIDI-centric application and requires the presence of other compatible Bud apps to operate effectively. Without these, BrainBud's functionality is significantly limited. Additionally, BrainBud does not generate audio signals independently.
